On May 15, 2026, “My Museum,” China’s first privately initiated, corporate-funded, non-profit life science museum, officially opened in Beijing. The project was jointly developed by VAVESTUDIO, the research team of Professor Cheng Zhen from the School of Medical Humanities at Peking University, and Sinovac Group.
Designed by VAVESTUDIO, “My Museum” turns life science education into a deeply human journey. Across 1,800 m², visitors move through 4 narrative sections, 7 exhibition zones, 23 multimedia installations, and 74 interactive moments, tracing a path from the wonder of life, to the discovery of self, to the rethinking of how we live. It is a space where science meets philosophy, emotion meets reflection, and each visitor begins a quiet conversation with their own life.
On the day of the opening ceremony, Hu, Haijie, Co-founder of VAVE and Design Director of “My Museum”; Tobias Geisler, Co-founder of VAVE; and Wang, Ling, General Manager of VAVE IMAGINATION SHENZHEN and Multimedia Interaction Design Director of “My Museum,” together with the Sinovac team, jointly inaugurated the museum.
The design team also joined the opening ceremony, looking back together on the journey and learnings from the project.
