On June 12, Hu Haijie (Co-founder of VAVESTUDIO) and Charles Lo (Partner and General Manager of VAVE DIGITAL) delivered two lectures at the School of Design, East China Normal University, under the theme “Narrative Spatial Design & Human Creativity in the Age of AI.”
In this lecture, Hu Haijie shared, for the first time publicly, the story behind VAVE’s latest project, “MY MUSEUM”. As the core design team behind China’s first immersive science museum initiated by the public and funded by a private enterprise — one that integrates life sciences, philosophy, and art — how did VAVE transform an abstract scientific proposition into a narrative space where every “me” can truly encounter, engage in dialogue with, and reflect upon themselves?

VAVE DIGITAL was officially established last year. Operating out of teams in Shanghai and Singapore, and in close collaboration with VAVESTUDIO, the studio is dedicated to developing cutting-edge digital experiences that integrate design, science, and interaction. Charles Lo, as General Manager, brings a background in mechatronic engineering and human-computer interaction. With over 20 years of experience in interactive experiences and digital creativity, he has led brand experience projects for Mercedes-Benz EQS, Alibaba, Didi, and Cadillac. He now focuses on the application of AI in design and creativity.
When AI can generate hundreds of design solutions in seconds, the value of the human designer becomes increasingly difficult to define. Starting from the concept of the “curve,” Charles Lo’s lecture explored the meaning of AI and the truly irreplaceable essence of human creativity.
